My baby celebrated his 15 month birthday on a plane without his mommy! He flew to New Orleans with Wade to spend 2 days with Grammy and Grandpa while I got some much needed rest and relaxation! I missed him like crazy, though!
This last month has been a whirlwind of growing up for Hayden! I just can't believe how much he's grown and how active he's become. He's a running, climbing, growling, laughing ball of energy who amazes me every day. Mostly he climbs ... ON EVERTHING. On the couch, on his stool, onto tables, chairs, whatever he can get onto! In the last week he's started to pick up a few words here and there ... he now says "mama," "dada," "eat," "bad," and "wow." That's the words we can understand. He's getting a little better at communicating his wants and needs, but we still have lots of frustrating times. Mostly, though, its his activeness that just makes me go ... woah. He is ALL BOY ... rough and tumble all the way.
He can point to his head, hair, eyes, nose, tongue, belly, feet and toes, when he's in the mood, which isn't often. He's still signing "more," sometimes does "eat" and will also do "all done." He bends over to pick things up, squats and dances. He's trying to use forks and spoons and eats really well. There STILL isn't much he refuses. He'll hold out his arms for his jacket, lift his arms to take off his shirt, hold out his foot for his socks and shoes and responds to instructions really well (when he wants to listen.) He also knows what it means to clean up his toys and loves to help me "sweep" with his little broom.
I've made a few friends here and we've been hanging out a lot with Julie and her kids. She has an 18 month old son and a 4 year old daughter. We went to their house so the kids could play today. They are still a little young to actually play together, but Hayden had a great time. He played with the toys and watched the other kids in amazement. They both sat at the table and had a snack of bananas and cookies. It was really cute to watch. He was mad when I made him leave, but he was exhausted and fell asleep as soon as we got home.
We've also gone on a couple of outings in the last week. We went to a soft play room last Thursday which was really cool and Hayden loved it! It was full of soft mats, blocks, balls, stairs, slides and a ball pit. I could let him run around without worrying about him getting hurt, so it was really neat. We also went to an open play at a gym yesterday which was just a big gymnasium full of toys that kids could run around and play with.
